Project Location Details
The Upper Sanigad Hydro-electric Project (USGHP) is a run-of-the-river type scheme situated in the picturesque locales of Kaphalseri and Pipalkot Village Development Committees (VDCs) within the Bajhang district of the Seti zone, Far Western Region of Nepal.
River System:
Sanigad River serves as a major tributary of the Kalanga River, which in turn, is a significant tributary of the Seti River.
Transmission Infrastructure:
In anticipation of multiple upcoming hydropower projects in the Seti basin, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has undertaken the construction of a 132kV transmission line connecting Chamelia and other mega projects. This infrastructure will facilitate the evacuation of power generated by USGHP to the NEA substation located at Balanch in Darchula district, approximately 20km away from the proposed powerhouse of the project.
Access Roads:
A gravel road running along the left bank of the Sanigad River provides operational access to the proposed powerhouse and Kaphalseri. Additionally, a 10km long project access road is slated for construction to reach the headworks at Mallo Bagad Village and the surge shaft of the project. Seasonal crossings will also be developed across the Sanigad River at Kaphalseri to facilitate access to the headworks.
